In this article, I will be sharing 9 parenting tips to raise your child up to a Happy and Healthy Adult.


1. Show trust, love and respect in your daily life.

Not only to your child but also to your parents, spouse, family and friends.


This will set a good example for your child.


For example, if you are disciplining your child, do not do it in front of others.

This would be embarrassing for your child.


Taking your child aside privately to talk or talk to your child after you leave the place shows that you respect his privacy.



2. Do not be afraid to discipline.

As a parent, you need to guide your child through the early stages of life.


For example, disciplining and setting the rules.



3. Remember to explain yourself.

“You cannot drink Ice Milo today.” “Why?”


Do not just reply “No” or “Because I said so!”.

This is not an efficient way to parent your child because it can cause resentment and rebellion.


Explain:


“You cannot drink Ice Milo today because you are having a cough.”



4. Spend quality time with your child.

Many families benefit from eating meals together and scheduling a regular family day to play games, talk, or go on adventures together.


This allows you to get interested in your child’s likes or dislikes, hobbies and friends.



5. Be kind and set a good example.

Your child will imitate your behaviour and look to you to set the pattern for social behaviour and personal habits.



6. Communicate with your child regularly.

Invite your child to talk.


This helps to develop a deeper relationship with your child, know how he thinks and learn what he is going through.


Do not bombard your child with questions that make him feel defensive and judgmental.

If not, your child will be less likely to come to you with his thoughts and problems he faces.



7. Be consistent in setting healthy boundaries for your child, follow through with discipline and establish daily routines.


8. Take care of your marriage.

When taking care of your marriage, your child functions better emotionally, physically and mentally.


Unhappy parents can have a huge negative impact on your child too.


Find help and time to have a date out when someone helps to take care of your child.


Find new ways to connect to your spouse regularly.



9. Build your child up.

There is immense peer pressure, online bullying and a rise in child anxiety.


Praise your child when he does something good.

For example, help to clear table after meals without being asked.
