Prepare the environment.
1. Washing Station
Show your child how to
- put soap on hands, wash and dry.
- bring dishes to the sink and wash them.
- wet the cloth to wipe surfaces.

2. Toddler sized tools
Show your child
- how to sweep the floor. Let your child try to sweep the floor.
3. Toilet learning station or self-care.
Show your child how to
- brush his teeth and hair.
- pull pants, undies up and down to use the toilet.

4. Rotate toys.
Store the rest of the toys into covered boxes and put them on top drawers which your child cannot access.
Put some toys in the lower drawers of a cupboard.
Give your child 2 sets of toys to choose from which he wants to play with for the day and put toys back to drawers after play.
This prevents mess, losing toys and cleaning up faster.
Rotate toys every 2 weeks.
This helps your child to focus on playing on the current set of toys rotated and see old toys as new toys again.
Take an inventory of toys. This helps to prevent buying the same toys again.
5. Easily Accessible
Show your child where the snack, utensil, cup, the napkin is.
This helps your child to take them when he needs them without asking you.
Let your child try to find and take what he needs without asking for help.
6. Give freedom with limits to preparing snacks or meals.
Give your child 2 sets of fruits and vegetables to choose from which he wants to eat for snacks or meals.
Show your child how to cut fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces.
Let your child try to cut.
Offer help if your child needs it.
7. Food table and water
Show your child how to
- fill a plastic cup with water and drink instead of using a sippy cup.

- take a plate, fork and spoon out from the cupboard.
- put the fruits, vegetable pieces and food on the plate.
- hold and carry the plate to the table.
- use a fork to poke the pieces to eat.
- scoop the food with a spoon and move it to your mouth to eat. You can scoop the food, put the spoon in his hand and guide him to move the spoon toward his mouth to eat.
- wipe his hands, mouth and face before and after eating or drinking.
Let your child try. 8. Bath
Give your child 2 sets of clothes to choose from which he wants to wear for the day.
Show your child how to
- undress for bath time and place his dirty clothes into his pail.
