What To Pack In Your Everyday Infant Care Bag: Checklist

So the time has come for you to go back to work. You’ve done your preparation, you have chosen the best infant care center possible to send your child to, and you’re counting down the minutes until you are reunited with your baby. And yet, you cant help but still feel a little worried.

Learning to spend time away from your newborn child can be very intimidating, regardless of whether it’s your first baby or even your fourth baby. For parents who have opted to go the route of sending your kid to infant care, this can be an even scarier option as you are placing your baby in the care of “strangers”.

To ease your fears, we here at Nurture Infant House Tampines have prepared an easy checklist for you to refer to as you prepare to bring your newborn to our experienced infant care center.

One month prior

If your baby is not used to bottle feeding yet, try introducing them to the bottle at least one month before they’re due at the infant care. Helping to ease your baby into bottle feeding early will allow you to relax, knowing your baby is eating comfortably while at the center.

One week prior

If you haven’t gotten yourself a diaper bag, a week before would be a good time to get yourself one. Having one set diaper bag for your baby’s infant care will make your life so much easier as you would have all the things you need in one place.

Your chosen infant care center would have likely given a list of what to pack in your diaper bag but this is the list of items that Nurture Infant House Tampines recommends that you bring:

On a daily basis

  • 3 x Milk bottles

  • 2 x Bibs

  • 1 x Blanket

  • 1 x Bath towel

  • 1 x Face towel

  • 1 x Comb

  • 3 x Sets of clean clothing

  • 2 x Plastic bags (for soiled clothing)

The following items are to be provided & kept in the centre for your child’s daily consumption:

  • 1 tin of formula milk

  • 1 packet of diapers

  • 1 tube of nappy rash cream

  • 1 packet of wet wipes

  • 1 bottle of baby oil

To make sure your child’s belongings don’t go missing at the center, write your child’s name on all their clothing and personal belongings so the infant care center can return them to you quickly.

All individual mattress covers, pillows, blankets, and protective bumpers should be brought home for washing over the weekend.

The night before

Make sure to pack everything you need into your diaper bag the night before your child is sent to the infant care. Packing it early will ensure you’re not rushing around in the morning to get ready and will give you some last minute precious time with your baby.

It is often said that it is not a question of whether your baby is ready for infant care - oftentimes, these children are so young they do not remember their time in the center - but whether the parents are ready to let go of their kids just for a little bit. So there’s little to worry about in this area: your newborn is almost definitely ready for childcare.

And now that you are prepped with this list, you are also ready to drop your baby off at their first big adventure!
